KEY WEST
CARIBBEAN CARNIVAL
EXPERIENCE

JUNETEENTH EDITION
Friday June 18 & Saturday June 19

Key West Carnival Weekend begins with a formal opening at the African Cemetery at Higgs Beach, Friday, June 18th at 6:00 pm! Dr Corey Malcolm, Gene Tinnie and Norma Jean Sawyer, the historians behind the rediscovery and renovation of the cemetery, will read the Emancipation Proclamation that ended slavery to honor Juneteenth, the day all enslaved people in America heard about their freedom. Attendees are invited to wear African dress, no matter your heritage and no matter your color, as we celebrate in unity. There will be some prizes. There will also be refreshments and hors oeuvres available.

Saturday’s festivities, aside from the costumed parade through the streets of Old Town, will all happen at the Coffee Butler Amphitheater at the Waterfront. All day tickets are $20 each and you can come and go. Parade participants, with their costumes, come in free. For costume availability, please call 305-304-1142 prior to the event.

Saturday morning, June 19th, at 7:00 am, Jouvert begins. Wake to the sweet sounds of the ocean breeze at the Coffee Butler Amphitheater. J’ouvert costumes will be available for $25. There you will find Junkanoo bands and percussion bands while you enjoy breakfast from the different Caribbean Islands. Our Vendors in our Caribbean Food Court will be serving vegetarian, natural foods and meat lovers’ delights.

Key West Carnival promises a weekend of authentic Caribbean entertainment, food, dance and merriment in keeping with our island heritage!

Music features Toko Irie, Beverly Baillou, Preacher, Iwer George, Youni-T, Baysee Boynes, Leonce Taylor, Razor and more………..

There will be Authentic Food from the entire diaspora. It’s all about the culture.
Go to the website (keywestcarnival.com) or Facebook or visit our offices or local church hall at Trinity Presbyterian and purchase your costumes to participate in the parade, the way it is done in most Caribbean Islands. Paraders will be either on foot, in golf carts, on the Conch train- But remember all paraders MUST be in costume!

Lunch will be served at noon in the Caribbean Food Court and the parade starts at 4:00 p.m. Entertainment and jamming happens at 7:00 pm, when the parade returns to the Amphitheater, and ends at 11:00 pm.
